The New Jersey Italian Heritage Commission (NJIHC) proudly announces the theme of its 2026 Annual Congress, to be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Rutgers University Student Center on College Avenue in New Brunswick.
This year’s Congress will center on the theme, “Celebrating the 250th of American Independence: The Italian Influence & Legacy,” highlighting the profound impact of Italian and Italian American individuals, ideas, and cultural traditions on the founding and continued development of the United States.

What was Dante’s relation to money? Why did he view wealth as the source of church corruption? Was he a Franciscan? At the root of all these questions is a document known as the Donation of Constantine. Radical Franciscan thinkers offer an answer to some of these complex historical and theological issues with a proposed return to the church’s purer past. The quest for poverty, reconciliation, and love govern the poet’s intense interaction with Franciscanism.
Talk in Italian is followed by reception. Adriano Olivetti, the political philosopher and philanthropist industrialist who invented and marketed the first personal computer. Meet Prof. Luigi Troiani (Università Pontificia Tommaso D’Aquino a Roma) along with Marco Zeppieri, discuss the newly released book by the Bruno Buozzi Foundation in Rome which reveals the life of Adriano Olivetti.
